I have a 150 gal fresh water tank with three Emporer 400 hang on the back filters.  I want to convert it to salt so my questions are....

1.  Can I do a fish only tank with this filtration?
2.  Can I have soft and LPS corals with this filtration?

Who has used this type of filtration and had success?

OK, I haven't converted from Fresh to salt in the same system...But:

1.  I would replace any filter media.

2.  I would replace all of the rock, gravel, and any other decorations.

3.  Fish only would be fine.

4.  Based on your signature line, you are already running a few reef tanks.  So, I guess you know the lighting requirements.

5.  In my experience, corals don't need as much filtration as fish do.

My next question is......

Who is running a reef tank WITH OUT a sump?  And how do you like it?  Do you use HOB skimmers and refugi's or just HOB filters?

I've seen many a tanks without sumps.  All very nice.
One of our past club members (you out there Lopez) has an amazing 75 gal and for the last 10 years he hasn't had a sump.

Also reminds me of that guy in Boise with the super sweet tank that has one hang on filter... and that is all!

Certainly can be done.
