Hello all,

I am wanting to get some test kits soon and I was wondering what kits you guys would recommend.  I am not sure which chemical tests I actually need, there seems to be one for everything imaginable, or a good place to purchase them.

I want to see how close my tank is to completing its cycling process, what are the parameters that I should meet before I start stocking it with coral, fish and inverts?

The only parameters I can measure right now are the following:
Specific Gravity is at 1.028 (refractometer), which I understand is too high, so I will be doing a freshwater water change.
My temp is also at a pretty constant 78 F.

Thanks tons for all your help. Smile

A lot of people here will recommend Salifert but I say avoid them. I have read a lot of problems with them lately. I have not used them but Elos makes great test kits.

To cycle a tank you need to test alk, ca, nitrates, ammonia, and nitrites. I think it is easier to have a LFS test at the beginning.
