Anybody try adding a bubble plate to one of the ASM skimmers? How did it perform? Tips? Issues?
I've been debating on making another trip to Home Depot for another weekend project
I'm just not sure if I'm motivated enough yet or not. I would really prefer to to add a Royal Exclusive Alpha 250 skimmer instead but I REALLY don't want to drop a thousand dollars for one. (yes, I realize that a bubble plate mod won't raise the performance of an ASM to the latter's level). Just thinking of tinkering around

If you are looking to upgrade your skimmer and not drop a grand I would look into the MSX skimmers. Marine Solutions used to run ASM but say the new MSX skimmers kick their butt from here to Sunday.
Well, if I upgrade, it will be to a cone skimmer. I was even looking at the new Esshops brand cone. They look pretty sweet for the size and price given it's a cone. I've considered one of the MSX skimmers, but I'll spend a bit extra if I buy new.
I just want to see if I can get even more improvement to the other mods that I did. I'm really tempted to give this a try. It would be a super easy mod, I think

That does sound like a steal for the MSX mini cone. I'll check that out. Inevitably, I will be buying the 'new and improved', but I think this might be a worthwhile and fun DIY
