does anyone know how to adjust an etss skimmer everytime I think I have i adjusted correctly I come back an hour later just to find the skimmer cup overflowing with water. I am running the skimmer with a mag 7, should water be coming up the overflow tube or just bubbles Thanks for any info
Set the water level/top of foam much lower than you currently have it. It needs to form a white foam that doesn't come out into the cup. As it runs for the next few days or weeks, the organics/protiens get concentrated in the foam area and darker stronger bubbles will form and eventually rise up over the top.
Also note that tanks under six months old don't really need a skimmer unless a shipped box of LR is added to the tank. In a newer tank, it's best to leave organics in the tank so that there will be some kind of food for the coral!

Adjust the water level to be about 2-3" below the collection cup flange. Let it sit there for a day or so before fine tuning. The water in the tube should be very bubblely... solid white.
