Topic: Kenya Tree Show Off Page Posted: January 23 2009 at 11:24am |
Time to play homage to the greatest coral ever! These pictures are of my giant kenya tree, they're over a year old since these are of my old 29 gal... This champion of corals got about twice this big, but then was lost last summer when my AC went out and my tank got too hot... RIP giant Kenya, you were the most beautiful coral this reefer has ever owned. Now lets see your huge Kenya's, or other awesome softies!

Wow, you really do win. What do you feed that thing?
Mine is trying to take over my 24JBJ but doesn't even compare. If it focused on growing instead of dropping frags though...
Edit: Oops wrong pic. It is the one.

You know, I don't know what I did... Maybe it was because I didn't know enough back then to do anything I got it as a frag from Dion, and then just let it got in my 29 gallon. It was under two 65 watt PC's, and that's it... It was a really cool Kenya Tree. Everyone complains about how they drop branches everywhere, but that one didn't... I think in the 18 months I had it, it dropped one branch. My new Kenya's drop branches all the time, but don't seem to grow big like that one.... Hey Dion, if you read this, do you have any other frags from the colony that this beauty came from? If so I want one again, it was an awesome Kenya... -Tim

Sounds good, now I just have to convince Mrs. Super that Kenya Trees are worth a drive all the way up to Farmington... Maybe I should call Adam and get him to buy some pizza... That might help my cause

The more I look at that pic, the more sure I am that it was Klyxum not Kenya. Dion got my huge Klyxum when
he got the Blue Spot Ribbontail Ray and may have given you a frag. Kenya's just cannot get that large without breaking up and the look of it's base branches and polyps is Klyxum (used to be Cladiella). I want to post a better pic when I find it.

He definitely got a Kenya from me long ago. My mother colony had two stalks and were at least 10" tall. Dam thing left pieces everywhere.
However Tim that doesn't look like Kenya. Way cooler what ever it is.

I agree with Mark, Looks like Klyxum or Colt Coral. I had a beautiful one like it that met excatly the same untimely demise. Unfortunately mine took out 14 fish with it when it went. Hope you didn't endure the same loss of fish with yours.
Kenya or Cort, either way they are beautiful corals.
