Topic: Way Cool Coral Posted: June 30 2004 at 9:50am |

This is a Cespitularia in the tank of one of my friends/coworkers. I'm hoping to get it named Aurora blundellalis but it probably wont' happen. Don't you just love those glowing metallic colors? I sure do.

Ahhh, the infamous "Blue Xenia". Great coral. You don't see it very often. If he gets it growing well he may be able to make some $$ off the frags.

Pretty cool stuff. I guess they have calcareous sclerites that reflect the light giving it a iridescent look. Just how cool is this hobby ?!?!

Mark,
Can you name any coral that pulses? Okay other than xenia, and that doesn't even always pulse.

...and what kind is it? Just for the heck of it, I'll guess. Is it an Isis hippuris, Pacific bushy gorgonian?

You're going to Germany and you're going fish shopping? I think there are far better things to be shopping for there than fish. Plus, getting them home would be a real pain.

Yes the polyps open and close but only when the current is slow. It also regularly sheds a layer of dead /algae covered skin. it has so many tiny polyps that it creats a very different effect than xenia when pulsing they almost seem to twitch more than wnything

I'll buy that for a dollar! I want some. Oh in Germany there are lots of places that you can buy Cannibus Sativa from. (Or however you smell...spell it.) It would probably grow really well under the lights that we use for our aquariums.

I'll be there a while on AT (I love the Army)
So I'll have plenty of nights out. We will go see alot of historical sights too. I'm thinking about boxing them up in styrofoam they all come from overseas to begin with.
