I am going to build a Nilsen Reactor for Kalk and wondered what your recommendation for size would be.  I have a 36 gallon Cube, 15 running gallon sump.  The tank will be mainly sps and lps, acros, montis and other lps.  Stocked fairly heavily.  The reactor can be no taller than 18" including fittings.  I was thinking of using either 3" or 4" pipe to build the reactor.  The 3" Would hold about 1/2 gallon and the 4" about a gallon.  My ato will hold 4 3/4 gallons with the 4" or 5 1/4 gallons with the 3" reactor.  How much volume do I need?  Any recommendations?

Should I post this here or in the filtration section?

Nope. I'd say this is the right place. I've never run kalk sorry I can't help.

Thanks Shane!  That is the one!

I picked up some 4"od acrylic tubing.  I'll try that out first I guess.  I also got enough 1/4" acrylic to build the ato reservoir.  I'll get those put together and go from there.  Tileman's reactor doesn't have a pump at all.  What is your take on that?  He has a much taller reactor and a higher pressure inlet.  I'm torn.  I was planning on a Maxijet 400 mixing pump.

I am worried about the ph and ca swings effecting my corals, particularly the sunset monti.

I would do the 4 inch version if you could.  Just because it will allow more kalk powder.  My kalk reactor does not have a pump on it.  It uses the water flow to keep the kalk mixed and it does a very good job of it.
