Well the pump for my protein skimmer died, and I was lookin at buyin a new one to replace it, but I noticed that my pump looks different then the other rio 600 that ive seen for sale.  I didnt buy the origional skimmer or the pump so I dont know if the guy modified it or what.  mine has 2 little spickets (see pic) stickin out the front where most of hte pumps are just flat and are box shaped.  Also do you think I'm going to have to mod the next pump to have the 2 spickets so i can put the air valve thing on one, or can i just get a pump and put it on as is sold?

I would get a small powerhead near the same size(just not a rio for this application) and mesh mod it. it would produce a much better skimmate and live longer, if you are near me I can show you how.

i actually ended up taking the pump to aquatic dreams with me yesterday when I took my kids out to lunch.  The guy there told me it was a rio+ model.  $29.99 so i just bought it.  I had been lookin at the non+ model ones on ebay and with shipping they were $25.  For the difference I just couldnt be bothered to  make it myself.
