Yesterday I went to Aquatica where Shaun talked me into getting my first acro , A tri-color acro is what he called it. I was skeptical, because all I have on my tank are three 96 w pc's (2 50-50 bulbs and one actinic) but he assured me that it would be able to grow under that lighting, so the price wasnt too bad , so I thought I would try. But this morning I was looking at it closely and saw two little crabs in it,(I think) they seem to live in it, and is causing quite a stir with my fish, they are very curious. My question is .. Is this a normal thing for acros, and is this a positive for my tank or should I be concerned?

I know there are many types of acropora crabs that are reef safe. I don't know if there are any "bad" ones.

I have a small redish-brown one in a head of acropora which has done fine in my tank. My blue tang sleeps about a half inch away from it and th crab never bothers it.

Nice bonus
Enjoy

Feed plenty of planktonic type foods and all should do well.

Agreed... free critters. Probably Xanthids... could even have Trapezids. The presence of a hitchhiker crab is't always a "bonus", though...All should be ok, but watch for damage on your new acro...it's an ideal place for a cnidarian preditor.
