I've heard good things, but not used them personally.

I'll say good.

i've used 250W mogul XM 15k's and they're WAY blue compared to most 14k's.  i really like the look but they're more like 20k's than 14k's i'd say

I have an XM 14 K 250 watt bulb over my sump.  For a MH it is not bad.  It is a fairly crisp white and the SPS colors are OK.  Nothing like the vastly superior VHO but for a sump it is OK... Thumbs%20Up

Thanks,

I had 250 watt 10K XMs and one was yellow and the other was white. One side of the tank the coraline algae looks gray the otherside looks purple. This is with VHO Actinic supplements.

I used the 10K 175w once. Believe it or not, they were too white for my liking. It seemed to wash out some color. I switched back to Ushios.

I second what Shane H. wrote.  I have 3 actinics to make up for the wash out.  I just replace with a 12k Hamilton and it is way too blue.
So, 175 very crisp and very white.
By the way, I coudn't use Ushio with my ballasts so, what bulb is similar color-wise to it?

Hi,

Very good feedback on the Reeflux 12K's(after swapping out XM's), coloration is excellent  with just the right touch of blue.  Most folks running reeflux's have cut back on actinic supplementation, but be aware that this is when using icecap ballast's.  Good growth and reasonable PAR also.  HTH

Cheers!

I take back the statement XM 10k's aren't blue enough!  As I found out with hamilton 10k's the color change over time is significant.  Hamilton 10k's went from crystal white to yellow. and the XM's from BLUISH tint to crystal white.  I do have quite a bit of actinic supplementation, but it looks perfect to me!

Exactly...best thing to do is to go see some tanks running these bulbs in a few different configurations(actinics'/no actinic's), then determine if you like it.

Cheers!
