Hey!

I'm a total newby and am doing research on what kind of system I want.

What I want to wind up with is something that is simple, reliable and redundant.

Does anyone have any experience or feelings with the Ecosystem set up?

I want to wind up with a reef aquarium and some reef friendly fish.

I have the "Ecosystem" filtration.  It works great but you can do something similar for much less money and without several hundred dollars in 'miracle mud.'  I have never changed out the mud like they recommend.  It is expensive and would make a HUGE mess to change.  I also run a skimmer and other filtration that isn't part of the ecosystem way.

The BEST advice would be to go and check out some of our tanks! Most of us are happy to show off our systems, all you have to do is ask and you will get all kinds of invites. Then you can see first hand all the different ways and  systems you want. And you can decide whats right for you.

Thanks! I would love the chance to check out some successful set ups! I plan to attend the next meeting. In the meantime... if anyone wants to invite a complete stranger into their home.... lol

LOL Check out my status to the left and signature line below. For more than four years and more than 8000 posts the entire world has had access to my contact info and has been invited to visit, see and discuss reefkeeping. Smile

Below is a picture of Miracle Mud. It is mostly silica sand which offers no benefit to a healthy reef system.

Gosh!

Thanks all for the invites! The holidays were a bit hectic and it looks like it will be a couple weeks before I can visit anyone's homes to see there setups.  Although I really look forward to it!

In the meantime, does anyone have any experience or opinions regarding the all glass megaflow model 4?

Is there a place for me to put in macroalgae?
