At first, I thought it was shedding, but now it's being taken over by this white stuff.   It's happened over the course of about 3-5 days.  Any idea?

dieing
stung by an LPS or fuzzy mushroom?
mold/fungus
take it out and give it a good wash and light finger scrub under a faucet of cool water to remove dieing flesh.
put it back in a different spot where there is more direct water flow over it, or bring it to me for recovery.

I would guess maybe a bacteria.  I would rinse it off with water from your aquarium making sure that you remove any dieing tissue (this is a good change to do a water change).  I then would place it back into the aquarium and make sure that the coral has some good water flow to remove any tissue or bacteria buildup.  If you notice that is startes to get bad again you may want to re-rinse the coral and then do a dip in an iodine dip.

Good luck.
