I just bought a citrinis goby yesterday, and it is not eating.  The lighting was not the greatest in the store tank and we didn't notice he looked kinda skinny.  Is this a hard fish to keep or is he just being difficult.  I don't want to lose this adorable fish.
Just a couple of glass boxes full of slimey things

I have a couple of these and I could only get them to eat live brineshrimp at first.  They were so shy I had to spot feed them too.  After a while, I worked them up to frozen brineshrimp and now they eat everything.

If you don't have live food, I would try frozen brineshrimp.  But you might want to try turning off the pumps for a couple minutes so it can catch the food.  They don't venture very far out from their hiding places.

If I were you, I would soak some frozen brine in some garlic.  It should catch his attention and maybe make him want to eat some.

Perhaps I would be better at basket weaving. . . at least it would be cheaper!

Robert you can go to fish4u and get live brine shrimp if you don't want to hatch it yourself.

Krista makes a good point. Garlic oil is a natural fish attractant and we also use it to prevent the ich parasite in our fish. The Ich parasite occurs in almost all tank water and can become a problem when fish are stressed.

One drop of processed Garlic oil per cube of frozen meaty food. (If you are not using a full cube, there are ways to get less than a drop of oil.) Do not add water. Stir it and let it soak into the meaty food for 10 minutes after thawing, before feeding. Feed this once each day for 5 days for a new fish and once every 2-3 weeks thereafter as a preventive.

The least expensive Garlic Oil is at the health food store. Buy it in a dropper bottle or as gel caps. Yes, it will smell.Smile
