I found a lighting system that looks pretty nice.  I would love to hear some feedback on what people think of this light.  The price is great!  Even if noone has one of these I'd be interested in opions yea or nea or thoughts about why the price could be so good.

Here's the link...

I agree with Eric - make sure of the wattage before you buy. They are probably 150's.

I think someone on the board (Adam B?) has a light made by these guys. What I have heard on reef central is that there are lots of plastic parts, and the bulbs are junk. However - everything works on them and they say that it is a decent bargain for the price.

Let us know if you decide to try it out!

I love aquatraders.  Silcox is correct, all plastic.  But slick looking and I never had a problem with my fixtures.

Did it come with the 20k's or did you purchase additionally? What about the CF's? The site notes that no substitutions can be made on the lights but it doesn't specify what they come with.

Will it only work with a 175 or can you use a 150?

A friend of mine just purchased this light and I helped her set it up the other day.  Aquatraders sells other bulbs for it that are 10K and 14K.   They are way cheap bulbs though so I wonder if they are not all that great.  We'll see what she think of it in a few months.

As far as the fixture I was quite impressed with it.  She got the 785 watt version for her 180 gallon tank.  It looks good on top of her tank and it was all powder coated metal.  Looked like a really nice fixture.  The ballasts are all enclosed in one case and the thing weighs like 70 lbs., but hopefully it will work well for her.

I'll keep everyone updated on what she thinks of it.

It would be a much nicer setup if the metal halides and power compacts were removed and replaced by the vastly superior VHOs...

Thanks,
