I have way too much silver tip in my tank right now and the stalks keep trying to migrate to places I don't want them.  I would like to cut some out but I would like it to survive transplanting.  Any advice?
 
As a side note if I can get the frags out healthily I would like to find them a new home if anyone is interested.

Cut them as close to the base as possible with a pair of scissors. I through them in the sump and let then attach to rubble and then give them away. If you leave a lot of stump it usually grows back and your where you started from.

Cutting will leave bits of flesh that grow back. I pinch them hard (with a slight use of fingernail) and yank them off the rock. Often they come off clean and don't grow back.Smile

I was just going to say that Mark.  I also use a pair of hemostats which allow you to get a really good grip and then yank and off they come.  It is interesting how when we first start off we want to save all the xenia we can but as it grows in our tanks and thrives, it often finds its' way into the toilet.  I apologize to those of you who might be offended by this.  It just grows like weeds!
