Now the wiring in the basement does need to be finished and so I will want to set up the wiring for the aquarium right as well.  Do you all find that 40 amps is generally OK?

40 amps is more than enough ... i was thinking about a 30 amp service to my tank ... 40 should about do it I think ... + some ....
