Flake food anyone?

   Well, we had some friends over to our house for dinner, and they brought their kids.  It’s so much fun to watch kids sit enthralled by the fish in the tank.  However, no one was watching the kids in the other room where my tank is.  You always hear about kids that have tried to feed a reef ice cream, candy, etc. these kids were no different.  I had a large can of spiralina flake food on the top of the tank.  They emptied about a cup of flake food into the tank and spread the food all over the room.   After my friends left I found the mess.  What fun it was to vacuum up the mess and clean out about half the water from my tank to correct the issue.  After that my skimmer went nuts for almost a week.  Luckily nothing was affected by this, but now the rule is no kids in the room unsupervised.
