   I am new to the salt water aquariums and I have large amounts of hair algae growing on the sand bed and on a few rocks, in colors of red and violet, does anyone know how i can get rid of this??

Welcome. You have come to a place where lot's of good answers can be found.

The algae may be Cyanobacteria and it may be green hair algae. To start off with, I'd refer you to read the article at this link:

Then, in order to help you better, please answer a few questions.

Is this algae growing over everything like a mat?

Is it slimey?

How long has the tank been set up?

What is used for filtration?

How many fish?

It's starting to grow onto rocks and started on the sand

Is it slimey?

It apears to be but i haven't yet touched it

How long has the tank been set up?

about 4 months

What is used for filtration?

I have 2 hang on eperoir 400 biowheel filters,  jebo skimmer! 

How many fish?

Five

Everything in the tank seems great all water paramiters are good ca,ka,pH. no amonia, nitrites, nitrates at about 10 ppm. I have a rose anenome, 2true purculas,  a yellow tang,  a yellow tail damsel, and a lawnmower blennie, some zoos,  a worm brain, and a couple other corals I cant pronouce yet let alone spell.  a sepent star,  some crabs, snails, and a shrimp.
