If you think it looks like a clam, it probably is. With some marine clams/bivalves, one side grows against the rock or in this case the Frogspawn skeleton. The reason the Emerald Crab is hanging around is probably because the skeleton has some algae on it or because it's eating the Frogspawn. I can see some Coralline Algae on the rock but is there any other kind of algae anywhere else in the tank? If its a new tank, there may not be enough algae in the tank for the Emerald Crab. This is usually what makes an Emerald turn to eating coral.
