What is the best way to setup a 2 chamber sump with a refugium?

what do you use to keep the water draining into the tank from ripping up stuff?  so put the skimmer in the return side?

Use a filter sock on the refugium side. That will calm the drain. And I never had an issue with skimmer in return side. But if its a hang on skimmer either side.

Unless you have a auto top off you will not want to have your equipment in the return section. Skimmers need a constant water level to function properly. Unless of course you have a hang on back one like the guy above then it wouldn't matter. If you use a heater u dont want the water level to drop either you will just burn it out. So I would put all the equip in the refug side.
