i am going to california and was wondering if it was ok to get some LR and LS for my new tank.since i might be going to catalna

Lex,

The water's 20 degrees colder than our tanks.  It has different kinds of life on it that will die when you get home.  I learned the hard way. I carted a cooler of macro algae through the airport.  It all died within a month.  If you do get rock and sand, for sure cycle it before you put it in an already established tank.
