Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with this tang and what you think of them?  I love their colors!  I just gave a friend 6 of my damsels for a FOWLR tank and exchanged my Scooter Blenny for a Foxface.  I'm looking at what I want to add to my tank in their place.  Current fish in 150 gal. are; 2 green chromis, 1 foxface, 1 mandarin goby, 2 percula clowns, 2 tomato clowns, and one dottyback.  I'm not doing anything quick, but would like some suggestions for maybe 2 or 3 more fish to call it good!  Thanks!

Think I may have found own answer on Clown Tang - looks like they can be very aggressive!  Anyway, please offer up any suggestions for what additional fish you would add.  Thanks!

In Marine Fishes by Scott W. Michael, he refers to Acanthurus lineatus or Clown Surgeonfish as  "at the top of the aggressive acanthurid hierarchy."  They are the most aggresive "tang".  And their "tang" is the biggest of all the tangs.  A beautiful fish though...

What do you mean by their "tang".  Do you mean the scalpel?

yeah, yeah, whatever. haha. Actually, I mean their caudal peduncle spine.  I didn't know if anyone would know that I was talking about if I wrote the technical name for it.  I wouldn't know what it was - I had to look the name of it up.

I don't have my Michael's book with me, but I was pretty sure he didn't have that written in there.  I was confused, because Tang does not refer to the spine.  I was just confused on if you wrote that, or if that was something Scott wrote.

I just wrote that to confuse you, Adam.  So my plan worked.

The Bi-color Blenny has personality and is an algae eater(soft algae on rock) but sometimes likes green star polyps or acropora if it can't get enough algae.

The Rainfordii Goby is an algae eater and a pleasant tankmate.

The various Naso Tangs like macroalgae and sometimes like Valonia/Bubble Algae.

The Lionfish is an amazing sight, and is reef safe but I recommend the dwarf lion. The Volitan just grows and grows eventally eating any fish large enough to fit in it's mouth and stupid enough to go to sleep! There is an unlimited supply of live Lionfish food at Sea Base, but can be taught to take brine and other prepared foods.

The Squirrelfish is interesting and has large eyes, because it is nocturnal in nature.

The Royal Gramma is cute, though a meat eater, and has interesting habits like building a macroalgae nest and hanging upside down under ledges. My 10 year old daughter named our first one "Flower".

Bangaii Cardinal are very peaceful tankmates though again another carnivore.

Perhaps one of my favorite herbivore/omnivores are the dwarf angels. Flame Angels can clean an algae covered item in a day where snails and hermits can't reach it or Tangs don't want it. Coral Beauty Angels are prone to "ich" but if you like the look, one of these angels is definitely the fish to get.

Well, there are more but that should give you a start!

One more thing, for your 150 gal. tank a Yellow Tang or similar body shape tang (Scopus, Purple, Sailfin, etc.) is my recommendation.

There is also the Yellow Eye Tang. I call it the "big lip tang"!
