I just got a new camera and wanted to try it out. So I thought it would be fun to show you all pictures of my reef. It is a 90 gallon cube 30"x30"x24" made of acrylic. Its been setup for about a year now. It is lit with a 400watt 12,500k Helios MH, 250watt DE 20,000k Aqualine AB, and 2x65watt PC actinics. It has a 25 gallon refugium lit with a 175 watt MH and a 15 gallon sump with a skimmer.

Derosa Clam

Ocellaris in GBTA

Frogspawn under 12,500k bulb only

These mushrooms are about a foot directly under the 400 watt bulb.

I bought the metal halide for my refugium at home depot and later added a mogul base. It has a 10,000K blueline on it now, but a 5,500K is on the way.

Thanks for looking

Do you like what you see out of the Helios??? How about the AB??? Are you driving the AB on an electronic or HQI ballast??? I'm hooking my new AB 250 20k DE on a Hamilton HQI ballast this weekend(overdriving that baby!!!)... any suggestions???

I love the Helios bulb. I was actually ordering a 6500k Iwasaki from a LFS, but the order was messed up so I just went with the Helios since my corals were dying with no light! There is no way its 12,500k though. It is very white and VERY bright. It is a little on the yellow side, but thats what i like. Id say its about 8-10k

I ordered the 250watt bulb/ballast from hellolights.com. Its an magnetic HQI ballast, but i haven't been able to fire the bulb yet since hellolights forgot to send me the ignitor. It was scheduled to be here yesterday, but was delayed thanks to UPS. So im hoping it will be here today. I'll post pics when its up and running.

I'm lost... ignitor??? All I received is the ballast, bulb, and socket... I was told that this is ALL I need(except the UV shield... tempered glass). Can you elaborate???

Here is the ballast I bought. They didn't send me the two little things. One is the ignitor and the other I forgot what is was. Im sure Jon can tell us.

The parts finally came and the bulb lit fine. Here's a picture of a green carpet under the 20,000k aqualine AB bulb.

The 20k bulb is VERY dim compared to the 400watt bulb.

I'm sure that after a burn in, it'll whiten up... I chose an HQI over a electronic ballast for the brightening.
