Hey All.
I am sure most of you have seen this ad on ksl.
Just wanted to give you a heads up before you inquire about this.
It is NOT A LACE CORAL!It is a RED Branch MacroAlgae. So do not waste your time.
If Macro is what you are after then you are ok,if not then Don't bother.

Guess will see in the day ahead.Any input would be appreciated.Big smile

From your picture the stuff looks like red bubble algae, and the KSL link makes it look a little bit different.  Are the branches solid or are they more of a bubble?  If they are more like a bubble, then it is probably a type of bubble algae.  In that case be careful as they could spread rapidly if not kept under control.

It looks like it could be Red Gracilaria. Grow it in your sump and feed it to your tangs.

I disagree.
It's not a waste of time or money to buy unique Macroalgae. Red Macroalgae is all too rare. So what if it grows fast. So much the better. Just get some herbivores to mow it down. We all should have herbivores anyway. The pic in that ad looks to me like that tank does not have enough herbivores and that's why that algae is growing. See all the hair algae, possibly even Bryopsis.Unhappy
The thing that bothers me more about this is how the advertisement goes to some length to say that this is a rare coral that is no longer allowed out. What kind of idiots does he think we are. As much as I would like to get some of that red Macro, I won't do business with dishonest people.

I wouldn't think that was a lace coral to begin with...

To whom it may concern... If you are interested in the lace, (or whatever it may come out to be) or may have some information that may be helpful, please let me know. Thanks.

Wow uncalled for Luke! From what is pictured it is a macro algae not a coral. There are several people here including Paul that have been keeping a reef and the like for a long time. Also if mark is saying its macro algae then that's what it is he has been in this hobby for a really long time.
