Yes the weight is distributed through the plastic frame around the bottom. That's why most stands for glass tanks only support the tank around the edges. In Acrylic tanks the whole bottom must be supported or the acrylic will warp and bend.

ok cool thats a relief. I got a stand from birdworld, the whole thing was hollowed but they told me that the weight is only goes on the edges. just wanted to be double sure
