I have a beautiful Naso Tang that has not been eating well lately. Today I found him leaning up against the glass. He is incredibly thin and not moving much. I eased him out of the tank and attempted to force feed him a slurry of food through a syringe.
I'm completly novice at this approach and I have no idea if I did any good or not?! I was unsure how far to push the tip into his mouth. Anyway, I'm sure he got some, but it may be too little, too late.
Anyone had luck reviving an emaciated fish?

I wish you the best of luck. I always feel bad when I loose a pretty fish. Its hard to save a sick fish.

Good luck Shane.  If you save that fish I'll be very impressed indeed.  Have you ever saved a fish by doing this?  Just courious.

Shane,

What do you think the lack of eating was caused by?  Maybe bad internal parasites?  I don't know if force feeding is possible.  If you can make it work, try mixing some anti-parasitic medicine and maybe some antibiotic in the food.  Don't get any antibiotic into your tank though.  A little bit can eradicate your entire bacteria population.  Good luck,

Steve

He was alive this morning, but not looking any better. If the starfish havn't gotten to him by this evening, I'll try again.
I realize its basically futile, but I thought it was worth a try.
I'm really not sure why he stopped eating. --strange ...
