I added a copper band to my tank a few days ago to control aptaisa. Well he has done an awsome job and ate just about all of it.
I am thinking of keeping the fish but I am concerned because I hear that they are prone to nibble on coral. Has anyone had any personal experance with this? What type of corals do they go after?
Also will he be ok without the aptaisa in his diet?
Thanks

What do you feed the rest of your fish? He'll probably nibble at your sps, and maybe zoo's. What size of tank is yours? How full of coral? My guess is he'll do just fine, may irrate some corals, but not hurt them enough to kill any of them. I would keep him.

I have a 125. It is pretty full of coral( not as much as I would like though)
I feed the other fish a big mix of food. mixed blended sea food, flake and macro algea.

Sounds like you have a big enough tank for him, and with enough corals the Copperbanded and corals should both do just fine. I'd leave him in there and just monitor him really close for a while. Make sure he doesn't pick at any one coral too much. But he should do just fine on the food you feed, and eating little bugs in your tank.

Is he eating what you feed your other fish?

I had a Copperbanded for about a week.  He never ate anything I fed the tank, but cruised around the tank picking at the rock.  If I had Aptasia in my tank I didn't know about it so I get the feeling he may have starved to death.

Watch your clams closely if you have them. I've seen copperbands do a number on them.

If the cupboards are almost bare and I can't get to the store for my favorite foods, I'll actually get used to eating something that I used to pass over. That's what can happen to every organism in our tanks. Otherwise, it dies.
