Hi,
I've been trying to troubleshoot a problem with the actinic light in one of my AquaSpace lights. A couple of days after Damon left, I realized that the actinic isn't working. I have two 4 foot lights. The left hand light is working fine. I checked the plugs, and they seem okay. The metal halide in this light is working fine. I got the books out that came with them. I've got a phone # for the company, but it's in Germany. Keine sprechen zie Deutch. I think that means I can't speak German. Anyway, could it be the ballast? I paid attn. to Jon's presentation, but didn't think he wanted any troubleshooting questions. With my luck, it's just unplugged somewhere in an obscure corner (??).
I looked for an Aquaspace light web site, but only found about 1,000 places that sell their lights. I tried not to bug you guys. Help? I will frag for help!

I believe the Aquaspcelight is made by Aqua Medic, if so Randy at MSM is a distributor for them and he could help you out. Give them a call they should be happy to help you. If that doesnt work then I can get the # for their main distributor in Loveland Co. Just let me know.

I bought them at Birdworld, so I figured I would ask them first. They say I should take the actinic bulbs out of the working light, and swap them into the non-working one. That should tell me if the actinic bulbs are burned out. Does that sound feasible? They said I just pull the glass of the surface to get to the end caps. True story? I've never taken them apart before.

The girl made it sound like a piece of cake. With me on a ladder 6 feet up there... blech. I'll get this sorted, though. Fixed up my calcium reactor today, thanks to Eric !

Swapped the bulbs out, and it wasn't a burned out bulb. The bulbs work great in the other light, but won't work in this one. Ballast problem, do you suppose?
Anybody know of a way that I can find out how long their warranty lasts? I have all the stuff & the receipt dated 15 November 03, but I don't see anything about a warranty. I wish they had a web site.

It could be a ballast problem, loose wire or burned up starter (if used). I wish you didn't live so blasted far away... it's really not too difficult to troubleshoot and fix if you have a multimeter and amp meter.

Jon, I know I have an amp meter. It's yellow with a red and a black tester prong looking thingie, right? I'll look up a multimeter online, because I'm sure there is one in the garage. If I can find them, can I give you a call?
