I came home today to see that I had lost 6 acan frags and most my candy canes... and two days ago one hydnophora RTN'd and today another...

My alk was 8.0
calcium 400
nitrate nitrite ammonia 0
ph 8.2
salinity 1.025
Magnesium 1300
temp 77
no stray electrical current

all fish and other corals seem super great (Polyps out etc)

I will take some water into the pet store tomorrow to see if its copper iodine or strontium
other than that does anyone else have any ideas on what it might be ?

they are spread across my tank so the flow/light has differences...

my alk has gone from 6.4- 8.0 slowly over the last month  I've been checking it every day along with ph and there hasen't been any drastic bumps, unless the last month is a drastic change? but this coral loss has occured just over the last 3 days...

any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated...

Ouch, I feel for you.  Unhappy
The only other things I'd suggest is a 15% water change and some carbon.

it does happen but i'm suprised it happened to the acans. I've seen sps go fast but not usually acans. is it possible the acans were all close and killed each other? keep an eye on everything else if it starts going frag the crap out of it

yeah I'm debating if I should mix up a new mix of salt for all my corals tonight or early tomorrow like a holding tank... while I tear down this 150 gallon I have to do it either way..., I wanted to use most of my old water but now I'm almost debating starting over with 210+ gallons of new mixed water...

I would recommend moving your corals or doing as large a water change as possible (100% if possible, which it usually is not) and running lots of carbon in a canister filter (or the like).

I had a flame angel that was quickly and quietly taking out my acans when I wasn't looking.  Since I like the acans better than the angel, it is now gone.  I know you lost many quickly, but any chance you have a fish that has gone postal on you?

Nick, that sucks. About a week ago we lost that awesome frag of orange/multicolored acans we got from you. It looked great one day, a little deflated the next, and the next morning it was bare skeleton. Weird.

I would run carbon asap. I dont know what is killing them, but a poly filter would probably be a good idea to run now too. It takes out any toxins, just in case any got in there some how. Always a good thing to have on hand.
