Topic: Toad Stool Mystery Posted: January 09 2009 at 5:05pm |
I got a toad stool frag on Tuesday. I have tried placing it in my tank a couple times, but it keeps getting bumped and ends up at the bottom of the tank, then when I feel like it I place it again. I did this again today and noticed that it was falling, but wasn't worried because the only thing below was an open sand bed. I went to go place it again and now I can't find it anywhere. The only thing I can think of is that some creature walked off with it and hid it. Is this possible? The suspects are: coral banded shrimp, emerald crab, or serpent starfish.
And if it is hidden under a rock is it a goner?

It is likely to pop back up in a couple months. I bet the current took it and put it where you can't see it.

Mine isn't attached to anything. I just placed it in my sandbed and it is open and doing well. I am just going to leave mine there for a while until it gets bigger. It's happy so I 'm not going to bother it. I agree with Mike, I bet it shows back up. Let us know if/when it reappears. I drivers me crazy when my corals hiide from me.

That is why I like to attach mine using the bridal veil method. They stay put until they are attached. If you missed the coral cutting seminar at the meeting I was showing people how to use this method correctly (placing bridal veil over the coral like net is not the correct way).
That said I am sure that the coral is behind your rock work. I doubt anything would have taken the sacro as they are somewhat noxious.

I saw your preso Jake and then went home and watched the GARF video that they have on fragging and mounting xenia and they DO place it over the piece like a net. So, is there a difference...
