Topic: tank drilled??? Posted: December 27 2007 at 8:53pm |
hey im getting a new tank tonight...its a 72 gallon bow front...pretty nice tank im realy excited...but the problem is that it is not drilled....is there anyone that drills tanks around here....im just too afraid to do it in fear that i might crack it....im not sure if its tempered or not...but i dont think that it is...let me know who drills and a ball park price...
Any way im planning on it being just a fos maybe a fowlr but thats not concrete right now....i might turn it into a reef latter once i get all the money for live rock and some halides....but its a cherry stand and hood 72 gallon with a 35 gallon sump i bieleve...

another option is an overflow box. I have one in my 72 bowfront with no problems.

Drill the tank, anybody with an overflow box that has not had a flood is just lucky. Eric at Marine Aquatics does a great job.

I'm afraid thats the risk we take. Worst case is you have to replace a pane of glass. All of these stores do this on a weekly bases. Ive had several done. I did worry the first time but now I just leave it to the pros.

I agree with Dion. They don't want to crack a tank any more than you do.

I would not setup a tank without drilling it.....and as far as an overflow box.....I don't like the look....I just use a piece of pvc, and a 90 degree elbow to adjust the height of the water....have them drill one on each side of the tank, and then run the two lines to your sump.....it is a good idea to have too much room for overflow, rather than too little{which really causes an overflow...onto the carpet}anyone else confused
