 Topic: Stromella smoking dope...

So I believe that I have two stromella's that are smoking dope... I went home for lunch today, and from across the room I could see these little burst of dust shooting up sparatically, they really looked like puffs of smoke... When I went to take a closer look, I found out that there were two stromella making these clouds... My yellow tang was also investigating, so I'm wondering if this is a defense mechanism... or maybe they were spawning...
Anyway idea? Is this normal, or do I need to have an intervention with these guys?

I actually saw almost this exact same thing last week except for it was a stromella and an astera that were sending up the smoke signals.
I would really like to know what the puffs of smoke were, hopefully not dope as we live in a non smoking apartment

It sounds like the Stomatellas are releasing gametes into the water column. A change in the water can bring this on such as after a water change.
