I haven't added any fish to my SW FO tank yet but had a question on temperature.  The temp this morning was 78 and 80 this afternoon (not sure over night).  Are these fluctuations normal in most tanks (55gallon)?  Will the fish be alright?  Thanks  Jesse

The more stable you can get the temp, the better.....the biggest thing to maintain heat is the room temp....keep that constant.....and then if your tank starts to creep up you can put a fan on the top...blowing on the surface....to keep the temp in check....

Also one thing I have noticed is when a heater goes out, or breaks, they usually get hotter or get stuck turned on.......maybe someone should design one that when it breaks it turns off........just another random thought rattling around my big head....

and your fish should be fine......

Normal in my tank is 77.7am 79.5pm this time  of year. The fish and  corals will be fine with this. The corals seem to be a little more sensitive to temperature than the fish IMO.

Thanks for the advice.  I wish that I had gotten into SW sooner because WMAS is a really good site, thanks to all of the members.  Thanks again.  Jesse
