Topic: show us your refugium Posted: April 20 2007 at 12:58pm |
For this month's Sea Star "Algae of the Month" article, I'm writing about Refugium Algae.
If you have a pic of your Refugium, please post it and tell us what you like about it. I'll pick a few of your pics to place in my article.
Thanks.

My sump/refugium was custom built by Marine Aquatics. Its 48x13x16. The first chamber houses the filter sock, ASM g-1 skimmer and 2 heaters. The second chamber is the refugium. Its 22 inches long, It has a three inch sandbed give or take, some small rocks, spaghetti and grape algea, some type of yellow sponge and black sponge. I run 2 of the GE 26 watt (equal to 100 watt) spiral power compact 6500K lights on a rdp schedule. I also have a small powerhead that comes on give when the timers for the refugium come on for some added flow. I get alot of growth out of this refugium. About every 2 weeks I harvest enough macro to fill a plastic ice cream container 2 times. I feed my tangs with some and throw the rest away.
