I have an animal that seems to have crawled out of some new live rock.  It looks like a black snail with little white dots all over the body and shell, but the shell is flat, like someone ran over it with a car tire.  It's about 3/4"-1" long.  At first I thought it was a slug.  It's cool looking, but I was just wondering if anyone knows what it is.  Sorry, I don't have a camera.  Thanks in advance!

My guess right off would be some type of Chiton. Is its body ribbed at all? Do a search on the web for chiton, you should find tons of pics. If it is, from what I understand they are reefsafe, although they can get very large.

Chitons are reef safe, I have a bunch, but if you have an acrylic tank they can scratch it. My old 40 gallon acrylic is all scratched up from them. It was a pretty good excuse to get a bigger tank!
