i am looking to replace my overflow box by drilling my acrylic tank and need a 1" fitting where is the best place to get one.

also where is the best place to place it in the tank to avoid the toilet tank noise, and still skim the top layer of water.

I'm thinking of a durso overflow type.

I like durso pipes, but they are not the only way to do it.  Just pick a method, if you don't like it, you can always change it.  You can get them at your LFS (under $10 each).
