I don't know of any brand names, but I know that Aquatica Carries 14k bulbs.

What wattage and type are you looking for?

Check the Feb 2002 issue of the Sea Star Online over there and read "RDP pH Control and Filtration"

You can get bulbs from just about any LFS and even more online. I just ordered some 14k Hamiltons through Aquatic Dreams. They will be replacing my 20K XM's.

I'm thinking of doing the exact same thing.  Please please please let us know what you think of the change, so I know what to do.

Will do Adam. I should have them tonight. My only concern is not having actinic supplementation and the lesser blue spectrum not allowing my pretty things to flouresce like they do now.

jglover, well that is absolutely fabulous of you to offer! I usually don't take donations or handouts. But if you are willing to buy my lights for me I would be very grateful! You are very kind and a quite upstanding person, no matter what Adam says about you! Let me know when I can pick up the check! Um... by the way, cashiers check only please.... or cash... small bills...

Adam,

Well, the new 14K 250W Hamiltons have been burning since this morning and I must say, everyone seems happy with the change. They seem so much more intense and not nearly as blue as the 20K XM's. However, there is still enough blue to allow my stars, frilly shrooms, etc to flouresce. But everyone is back in the party it seems. My rics are doubled in size, the rbta is really stretching out, the only one that seems a bit mad is my lobo. One side seems bluer than the other, but they need to finish burning in. I will update in a week if I remember.

Overall Adam, I think that you would like them. I still don't think that I will need to suppliment. We'll see. Maybe if I start acros or other sps. Wow.... my cabbage leather is HUGE!

me too....
I will just give my warning that your system will flood, bulbs will burn out, and things will take continuous maintenance... get over it.
