Ok I have a med sized red bubble anemone and a small clown.  The clown was in the tank first for a few days before i put the anemone in there.  There are two other anemones as well both condys.  The clown is refusing to get near the bubble tip.  Instead stays up by the heater and powerhead.  What can I do to get him to move down to the anemone?

Probably not a darned thing.  If he was captive bred he may never decide to use anything as a host.  Both my clowns also stay up high in my tank near the powerhead and sometimes near the return and both were captive bred.  I've heard some people say that if you put the clown and the anemone together in an acclimation box for a few days that it might decide to use it to host in.

Most clowns will host if just given time. Otherwise the acclimation box should do the trick.

I have read numerous things on this subject. I have read that putting the clown in an acclimation box as well as the anemone... Also have have heard and read, believe it or not, it will help having the clownfish see another clownfish hosting. Dont know if its true or not (probably not)  but you can put pictures of other clownfish hosting in an anemone on the outside of the tank.. That just sounds weird saying...  Also just give it time..
My clowns wouldnt host an anemone they went and hosted a feather duster.. Unfortunately killed it by wrestling with it.
This is more than a hobby; its a lifestyle.

My clowns host my frogspawn and torch now. One of the clowns I had for awhile and it never went near anything it could host. My brother had a clown that was hosting and have it to me. Immediately the second clown started hosting in my stuff and within a day or two my original clown started hosting as well.

Well it finally worked.  I tried an acclimation box,,,no luck...didn't do the picture...instead i got another clown, that came with its own anemone.  The clown is twice the size of my original and she hosted in her anemone.  after about 2 days, i noticed my little one also rubbing against the anemone...now he is happy laying in the middle of it all.  Thanks to everyone for the ideas...

Thanks for the loan of the acclimation box Tileman.  At the moment I have a sick anemone in it tokeep it from getting demolished by the clown...i will bring it to you very soon
