Topic: saltyjarheads IM Micro 30 Posted: August 06 2012 at 11:08am |
Thought I would sart up a post so I can track my progress.
Here is my tank
Innovative Marine Micro 30
Lighting 165W dimmable Blue/White LED Pendant
1 Hydor Nano 425
1 Spin Stream
1 Hydor slim skim nano
In back chambers 1-Filter bank with 3 sponges, 2- Heater and Chemipure, 3- Return pump, 4-LED light w/Cheato and LR rubble, 5-Hydor Slimk skim nano
Using Red Sea Max Test kits for everything
Using Reef Fusion 1 & 2 for calcium and alk
Using Kents for Mag, Iodine and Phyto
I have now changed my scape 4 times should of just done what everybody said and set it up on cardboard dry first, but didn't read the forums until after I set up my tank.
Has been running for about 6 weeks now.
All parameters are good except my ammonia keeps going from 0 to .25 I think it was due to a piece of LR I had a bunch of algee that kept growing and dieing off I removed this piece and will continue to monitor.
Now for some pics first aqauscape

Here is a pic of my back chambers so everyone can see what I was talking about.
Closest chamber is the Slim Skim nano then the chaeto and light then the return pump then my chemipure and heater and last is the filter bank.

Weird thing last night I went in and looked at my tank after mowing my lawn and noticed I had an empty turbo snail shell. I looked closer and saw the last little bit of my turbo snail under the biggest rock in the middle of my tank and my cleaner shrimp was hanging upside down above it.
I had no idea a cleaner shrimp would eat my snail. The only thing I don't know is if he was already dead and he just took advantage of a free meal or if he actually killed and ate it. Any thoughts?

Thats what I'm thinking maybe the snail for some reason was already dead and he took advantage of it.

Everything looks great. That Hollywood stunner chalice s a fast grower and it'll look amazing growing where you have it placed right now.

Thanks for the comments. I am suprised it is actually growing. I have a povana coral that is bleaching out and I can't figure out why? I had it placed high in the tank because I thought they needed med to high light and flow? I have recently moved it a little lower than half way down. Hopefully it will come back. The chalice actually looks really good and some of its tentacles? I think that's what you call them are reaching about 6-8" right before lights out.

I was wondering if someone could help me with placing my birdnest and blastos? What do they require?

I feel LED lights are so unpredictable. Start them both off low on the sandbed and raise em up every weeks or so. The blastos will prob end up in the lower half of the rock or sandbed .The birdnest might be able to handle more light over time. Birdsnests are pretty hardy so you should be fine.

Awsome I think they are both doing pretty well in the sandbed so far so I might just keep them there. I haven't had my new lights on for very long and only have them up about 1/4 of the way. I am going to slowly raise them up a little bit over the next few weeks.

Ok another question where should I put my new MP 10 when I get it? I usually see them on the side of the tank about 3/4 of the way up?
I will have that and my spin stream that is hooked to my return pump.
