So I'm going to get Eric's clam tomorrow but before i do I had a question. I read that most who keep this type run metal halide . I use 6x54w t-5's . My tank is 18" deep and was wondering if my lighting is sufficient for this clam .I wanted to keep him on my sand bed and not attach him to any of my structure, but will provide a rock on my sand . Any and all help would be appreciated ...

I have a Ultra maxima under LED's and he is beautiful!!!!! Very happy.
Depends on how big it is. If it is a young clam or small, they are a little more sensitive to light and cant handle high light. The older they get, the more intense of a light they need.

I think your lighting is just fine, from when I saw your tank. They really aren't hard to keep in my experience as long as you have a healthy tank.
