I woke up this morning to a colony of red p.e., I just got had two heads barely holding on. Came home tonight to find 2 had been "clipped" off about halfway between the head and base. Only thing in tank is 2 clowns, few crabs, and about 10 snails.

Any idea what could be causing this? All other zoas/palys in tank are doing just fine.

No, the polyp is actually "cut" half way up from where it's glued to the plug and the head itself. I can actually see one of the zoa heads rolling around in the current under one of my frag stations.

Sure you don't have an emerald crab in there?   I had a couple that use to clip off zoas like that.
Indefinite hiatus from sw aquariums.

Once I have my glorious return I'll set back up the following.
50 Gallon rimless cube.
180 Gallons mixed reef paradise
