Alright gang here is the deal. My Dad tore down his 24g Nano Cube and gave it to me so I now have a larger tank. I love my little 7.5g cube tank but it will be turned into a FW tank here in a few short weeks.
Right now the 24g is here at my new place and kind of cycling. When my Dad finally got rid of everything the rock was over run with hair algae and red slime set in pretty bad. He has had the tank covered for like 3-4 weeks now with no light getting in. 95% of the hair algae is gone and there is no red slime.
I am going for a very minimalist look on this tank. Small rock piles with tons of open space for the corals. I will only have a few select corals in this tank and 1-2 fish. I currently am using an MP10 on my 7.5g tank and know it will work on this tank. But here is the problem....
I want to do some upgrades on this tank. I already tore the entire hood apart and will be getting some Ecoxotic LED's here pretty quick. No, I don't want to do DIY on the LED's. I have some nice store credit at Reef On and will be ordering the Ecoxotic stuff from them. DIY will save me almost no money and the Ecoxotic's are plenty powerful for anything I want. Back on topic...
I also need to get new fans for the hood and am thinking of setting up a two-part automated doser. So I need $$$$ for all of this. I plan to sell my Vortech MP10w ES to fund everything.
I have been looking at the Tunze stuff and am set on getting them. I don't want Koralia or Aqueon. They are huge and not my favorite. I am looking at either the Tunze 6015 or 6025 for my tank. The 6015 is like 475gph and the 6025 is around 660gph.
Which one should I get? Does anyone here have experience with either pump? How is the flow from them? Is is broader and nicer than a Koralia? I know it is more streamlined then a Vortech but how much more?
Thanks!
