I purchesed some 1 gal. pvc bottles for dosing from BRS.  They have a really strong "smell" to them.  I dont' know if it's the PVC or what?  I've tried rinsing them out but the smell is still strong.  The droplets of water in them seem to bead more than I would expect, too.  Are they coated with something?

These jugs are specifically for dosing so I can't imagine that they have a contaminant that would cause problems... but...  I would feel better if I could get the smell out.  I also bought an extra one so I could bring RO water to work to drink.  The smell/taste totally defeats the purpose of having better-tasting water to drink than what comes through the fountains here. Confused

Ideas?  My wife suggested rinsing them with hot water and soap.  I'm reluctant to use any soap, but have tried the hot water.

I've rinsed plastic jugs with a weak vinegar solution. But these were just milk jugs.

I could have used milk jugs, but I wanted something more rigid as well as wanting their 1 oz dispensing pumps too.  I could try the vinegar...

Just the smell of plastic. This smell is so strong because its new, later after usage the smell goes away.

Won't hurt a thing.
Leaving it uncapped for a few days will help.
Heat drives it to release the volatile chemicals(the smell) faster.
