Now that I got your attention:  I bought a sally a few weeks back and added it to my tank.  It was dead the next day!  What do i look at for potential problems?

Of course I acclimated it.  Water quality was good. Salinity 1.022-1.024; ph=8.2; all zeroes on the nitrogen waste products; alkilinity = 8ish Calcium 350.  I am battling iodide though.  When added (with seachems reef plus) polyps started popping opening up again, but now my iodide readings are off the scale.  Is this a big concern? Iodine levels are below detection.

Shrooms, acro, hammer and candy corals doing great, polyps out but not full, tongue coral not extending polyps day or night(?), capanella pale and contracted.  Porite (xmas tree) polyps starting to extend again.  Encrusting gorgonia not extending polyps.  Xenia dead in days.

Are there any other parameters/info I should list/check

Do you run a refugium(if so) on a reverse light cycle from your show tank? How much does your PH flux from night 'till morn??? The temp can be a cause if too high and too low of oxygen... What is your total water volume flow per hour on your system? Where did ya get "sally" from???

I have a sump that is on a reverse lighting schedule.  The ph usually doesnt change more than a few tenths of a point.

Temp is a problem?  The room I have it in is on the south side and with the cooler nights and warm days the temp (in the room) is crazy, though the tank temp only increases 1-3 degrees (78-81).

I set up the overflow chamber so that there is a waterfall effect to increase the oxygen concentration.

Waterflow is only adequate.  Mark Peterson visited and made many constructive suggestions.  One of which was to change around my powerheads which were coral specific (my gorgonians) so that they would be flowing over more of the reef.  I plan on increasing the flow slightly from where it is now.

The Sally came from Birdworld.  I do think they were a recent shipped.

Thanks,

John P
