I'm upsizing from a 125 to a 240. I won't be adding any new livestock but I figure I'll have to upgrade my skimmer anyway. I am currently running an ASM G3 (rated 250 g). I like the G3 and was thinking uf just moving up the ASM rating to a G5.  I found a really good deal on another G3, though.  Is skimmer function additive (two smaller skimmers = one bigger skimmer), or would I have one skimmer doing all the work and the other just doing nothing.

i'm honestly not sure??? I'm thinking you could run two and they would do as good as they could, and obviously two would do better.
 
how good of a deal did you find on a g-3. I may have a g4x available. Mesh mod, and gate valve mod. Not sure yet though ;)

Crystal, If Jeff isn't interested get ahold of me on the g4. I may be interested.
 
Jeff. I would run 2 vs 1. The only way to loose there is if you don't have enough poop to remove. Since your upgrading room- I guarantee you will upgrade live stock as well.

No problem i'll let you know. We are kinda gettin skimmer overloaded. we are going to replace the geo skimmer on our cube with an asm g-6 we are getting a good deal on. And I am either putting the geo on my 120 or the asm g4-x. they are basically the same skimmer so either way I will have one or the other available. the geo is running on an oceanrunner mesh modded pump. it's quite the stud.
