Anybody had any experience with a nanoskimmer or any type of skimmer for a nano???
Here is a link for this skimmer I am thinking about...
I have also been looking at this Current Fission nano skimmer.
Would I be wasting my money if I got one or what.

Well with the biocubes or any of the cube systems they kind of build a skimmer for the surface. But if you think you need the skimmer then go ahead and buy one.

Not to mention that but water changes are so easily done on smaller systems like that you can almost limp along without one-- provided it's not heavily stocked with fish/SPS.
I have no skimmer on my 29 gallon, but I am growing chaeto and I do weekly 3 gallon water changes.
Just me, though. I'm not sure whether or not those things work well enough.

Ok, I dont think I will waste my time anymore. But, my tank is not skimming the surface so I have a lot of floaties on top. Any ideas?????I can point my power head to the top but wont that reduce flow flow for the bottom of the tank???

I'm not familiar with your setup. Amy's right, though, usually they're built for skimming all by themselves. Find out whether or not it's supposed to skim the surface first. If it's supposed to, let's address that problem. If it's not supposed to, then I'd explore the option of getting a second powerhead, or playing with the position of the one you have in there.

Those two types of skimmers serve different purposes.
A surface skimmer helps remove organic film from the surface to help improve gas exchange. For a surface skimmer to "skim" the surface the water in the overflow must be below the water surface in the tank. The thinner the sheet of water the better it works.
A protein skimmer helps remove organic compounds from the water so bacteria doesn't need to deal with it. On a small system water changes work well for this.
