I have a Prizm skimmer...It is VERY sensitive and needs constant adjustments. It also requires frequent cleaning or it quits working.
The problem you will have with puting it in your sump is water level. It hangs over the side of the tank. If your water level goes too low, it can't suck up the water. Generally, a sump isn't filled to capacity. Otherwise power failures means overflows.

Below is a pic of my Refugium/Sump. It's pretty complicated.
Also, I can send you plans for a DIY overflow. Just email your request by clicking here: [email protected]

Ryan, If you have not already spent 25.00 on a bottle of garlic extreme. Fresh garlic from the corner store will do the same thing and there have been studies that it even work better.

the sump level depends on your overflow stop point. The sump should be able to handle all the water the overflow will drain out of the tank without overflowing onto everything, before the water stops coming through the overflow

Connie, I'd like to read those studies, because you are the only person I know who has good results with fresh garlic.

so here is my problem im running into, i need to put my skimmer on my sump and for that to be able to happen is if i fill my sump 3/4 of the way full. if power goes out my sump will overflow. i was told on the overflow to drill a hole an inch from the top. what if i drilled it like 3/4 an inch or 5/8 of an inch from the top water level. is that ok?

is your tank drilled? .. Are you talking about drilling holes in the U Tubes for a HOB overlow? ... if you are .. this will not work ... if the power goes out it will loose suction than when the return pump turns back on your main tank will overflow .....
