I had my yellow tang in my tank first, then added a sailfin followed by a blue.

the yellow picked on the sailfin quite a bit the first few days then settled down enough for the sailfin to heal completely then again today I noticed the sailfin getting chomped on....

neither the yellow or the sailfin have a problem with the blue or visa versa =)

anyway, today I cought my yellow tang and tossed him in my sump for a bit.....

do you think keeping it in the sump for a week or so will teach it a lesson? or do I just need to get rid of it?  (Also, the yellow tang is in my refugium with a pretty low flow) will he be ok? its pretty much just the gravity of 3/4 overflow going into it...  and a t off my return pump but its set pretty low or it will over flow.    <do I need to put a power head in or will it be ok?

It won't teach him a lesson but it may let the sailfin get established, destress a little and learn the layout of the rockwork and establish a territory. This will help him deal with the aggressive yellow tang when it is reintroduced. I think the yellow tang will be fine for a week or two if he has enough to eat in the sump. He will be stressed some from a lack of swimming room though.

hopefully if its long enough the sailfin will heal and take over a territory like mike said, not sure if a couple weeks will be long enough but i think the yellow is just being territorial. he will still be aggresive but hopefully back off a bit because he lost his territory. we can all cross our fingers right lol

ps good luck

in that case, I'm pretty sure I just want to find a good home for the yellow tang... would anyone be interested?

I bet crystal would be interested in your yellow tang, if it gets to that point.  But on a side note, I have all three of the fish you mentioned in a 75gal, and as long as I keep them fat, they are happy and I don't have any problems.

Perhaps I would be better at basket weaving. . . at least it would be cheaper!
