Topic: Duncan Placement Question Posted: November 11 2010 at 10:47pm |
My new Duncan colony is not opening fully yet...
I have it in an area with high light (maybe 12" below a 400w MH) and medium flow; maybe medium-low flow.
Is the issue too much light, too little flow, or both?

It was in the center of my tank about half way up. It also had pretty good flow. It took it about a week to open fully up when I got it.

I would say both. Mine is on the bottom of my tank in moderate flow. It loves it there.

Low to Medium light and moderate flow.
Majority if LPS only need between 80-150 PAR. I have found if mine get high light, they eventually bleach out.

Bob, I would move it down. My duncans have always grown fastest on the sandbed.

Yeah, that seems to be the consensus. It would be a shame not to get it full opened; it looks like it should be a real pretty piece - basically, softball sized skeleton and almost perfectly symetrical...
And my sandbed area actually gets more flow than where it is now up in the rockwork - so that should be a plus
So, it sounds like a plan!

I had mine in Low flow and it did not look so good. I now have it in moderate flow and it is doing great.
