It may eat the typical frozen meaty foods. Is it not eating at all?
All the Butterflyfishes main foods are coral polyps, small anemones and
small feather duster worms. Did you know that before you got it?
We often introduce them to eat the nuisance Aiptasia Anemone and then
give them to someone else before they eat all our prize coral.
This little tidepool was too small and not accessible to the Butterflyfish and Tangs that are so common to Hawaii. Only a brand new hobbyist would would want the Aiptasia that grew so nicely here, but to an old timer like me it was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. It was my first time in a tropical ocean.
